The road that goes around the tree

The street where my yoga school is based, is a wide avenue of 2 lanes each side with a grassy bit in the middle. Halfway down the street there is a large tree in the middle of the roadway

The base of the tree is painted white and the road continues around it. If you look closely at the picture you will see there is also another smaller tree in the roadway just in front of where the red car is going, and this is the same. They didn’t cut down the trees just because they were in the middle of the road. If you weren’t used to the road and driving at night, it might give you a bit of a shock to find a tree in front of you, but there is no evidence on the tree of cars having crashed into it, so I guess the locals all know to avoid it
