Major work on my condo

Here in Mexico the developer has to repair any defects on my condo for a year from when I bought it.
In my first weeks here I wrote out a comprehensive list, mostly small things but a few larger, including several cracked or chipped tiles and quite a few "drummy" ones.

It's taken a while for them to organise quotes, with a lot of urging and finally threatening from me, but in the last few days Eliseo the builder has been here working on a quote for the lot. He prised off a tile yesterday so that he could match it, and guess what? those tiles are no longer available. Which means the whole floor 1000 square feet has to be taken up and replaced. It's a pretty big job, and of course it has to come now when I'm ready to rent my condo out. Eliseo is keen to start ASAP, and the RE agent is asking do I want it done now or after Easter - do I want to rent the place or not? Since Semana Santa (what they call Holy Week) is only 2 weeks away, I've told him to keep marketing for the time being and if there are no "bites" by next Saturday then we can go ahead with the work, and we'd only be losing a week.

Eliseo and I walked miles in the hot Mexican sun today to visit 5 different tile shops, but I haven't yet found anything that thrills me. I brought home one tile which turned out to be an exact match for the common areas here, so that's useful but it didn't look right inside the condo. So I've decided to go up to Cancun tomorrow to have a look there. Home Depot sounds like our Bunnings, a humungous hardware store, so I'm sure they will have lots to choose from.

Mi casa is about to become a construction zone! Well that will make for some interesting blog posts, eh?

  1. I seem to have this signing in thing all settled up now!

Contruction Zone... you love it ! Just think of all those tradies.

In the world of Woonona I've been pretty busy - we've just had two of the most beautiful Autumnal days I can remember in quite a long time - 23degrees, light cool breeze not a cloud in the sky. Just put the extra blanket on - and We did something pretty smart - we bought a King sized blanket for our queen size bed - now it doesn't matter who curls up there's plenty blanket to go around.

The Patio is almost complete - spent last weekend hanging the Patio Blinds - basically large heavy duty Plastic roll up screens. I'm pretty happy with them - I've become a bit of a perfectionist so it annoys me when things don't turn out how I see them in my mind's eye - don't these inanimate objects under stand! I'm in charge!!
the Patio will be really good - two day beds, a large BBQ table setting a pretty flash work bench/servery bench and lots of bright hanging pots and flowers.

Morgan is turning 18 this thursday so the rush is on - she's already got several piercings (Nose Lips tongue) all above the neckline and she and Deb are going to get matching Tattoos- partly to celebrate their Kakoda adventure and partly for bonding. I've told her the only one I'll insist upon (it she continues) is one on her Butt which says "THIS SIDE DOWN".

We're spending the next Weekend up in Sydney - we've rented a Terrace house in Newtown for 3 nights and will staying there to enjoy the time. Allot of her friends will be comming up to stay over the time - so there is going to be a constant stream of 17,18,19 and 20 year old women passing through the place(which from my point of view isn't such a bad thing).

The only fly in the ointment is that the sewage has decided to play up - so no No.2's in the house. Lets hope we can get the plumber out to do the electric eel thingie. ( our builder failed to explain there was insufficient drop when we moved the loo to the other end of the house - we usually keep it under control with a couple of tubs of bathwater each week but it seems to know when the pressure will be on an then wants to remind us who really is in charge.
I can fix it but Debbie goes nuts when I try to do it - something about airborne infections and my reduced immunity. I keep telling her I'm a boy and bullet proof.

    Anyway's that's it, for today.

    Lots of love and kisses,

    Bradley

  2. I can see you're roof from here!

Actually I'm playing with Google earth - not the same as being there, but I have a good imagination...
